Thanks for this entry; I've a partly written one on Global Warm(n)ing, that I haven't been able to finish off, that in a way links up to these things.
However, just a thought here: whenever we plan to *produce* something, we should think ahead if we'll be able to safely *destroy* it too! eg, plastic. That itself will tell us how much progress we're making, if at all!
Praveen, I do agree with you ... that with every product design or manufacturing there has to be a well thought out 'exit' strategy. Probably the disconnect comes because the stake-holders who gain from the manufacturing part of any product life cycle (PLC) are usually different from those who gain when it is destroyed. If these two groups can be aligned, then perhaps we might see more thought being given to design of disposal and "safe" destruction.
